Ownership and Business-Interest Disclosure
Ownership and Business-Interest Disclosure
Mended Soul Counseling Services, PLLC values integrity, transparency, and ethical practice. We believe clients, clinicians, consultees, referral partners, and members of the community should have access to information regarding ownership, financial interests, supervisory relationships, and other professional connections that could create—or could reasonably be perceived as creating—a conflict of interest.
We do not believe the relationships described below inherently interfere with the quality, objectivity, or ethical delivery of our services. However, we provide this information proactively so individuals can make informed decisions and raise any concerns they may have.
Practice Ownership
Mended Soul Counseling Services, PLLC is a privately owned Texas professional limited liability company. The practice is owned by Lindsey Grela, MA, LPC-S, who serves as its Chief Executive Officer and Clinical Supervisor.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, counselors, administrative employees, students, interns, and other individuals affiliated with Mended Soul Counseling Services do not hold an ownership interest in the practice. Their affiliation with Mended Soul Counseling Services does not establish a legal partnership or authorize them to act on behalf of the company outside the responsibilities of their assigned roles.
Administrative and Familial Relationships
Jonas Grela, Lindsey Grela’s spouse, serves as the Office Manager for Mended Soul Counseling Services. Because of this familial relationship, Lindsey and Jonas may share a household financial interest in the success and revenue of the company.
This relationship does not alter any clinician’s professional responsibilities, clinical judgment, documentation obligations, confidentiality requirements, or duty to prioritize client welfare.
Clinical Supervision
Lindsey Grela holds LPC Supervisor status issued through the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) which governs the Texas LPC Board and provides clinical supervision to certain LPC Associates affiliated with Mended Soul Counseling Services. She may also provide supervision, consultation, or professional guidance to clinicians who are not employees of the practice.
Each LPC Associate’s professional profile and informed-consent documentation will identify the Associate’s current supervisor as required. A supervisory relationship does not necessarily mean that the supervisee is an owner, partner, employee, or authorized representative of Mended Soul Counseling Services.
When a clinician receives supervision through Mended Soul Counseling Services, appropriate clinical information may be discussed with the supervisor for supervision, ethical consultation, quality assurance, risk management, and continuity-of-care purposes, consistent with applicable laws, professional rules, and the client’s informed-consent documentation.
Outside Professional Activities
Clinicians and other professionals affiliated with Mended Soul Counseling Services may participate in activities outside their work with the practice. These activities may include teaching, training, consultation, clinical supervision, volunteer service, professional associations, advocacy, research, writing, speaking engagements, or employment with other organizations.
Unless otherwise stated, these outside activities are conducted independently and should not be understood as services provided, sponsored, or endorsed by Mended Soul Counseling Services.
Clinicians are responsible for disclosing an outside activity or professional relationship when it could reasonably affect—or appear to affect—their objectivity, professional judgment, boundaries, referrals, or services provided through Mended Soul Counseling Services.
Related Programs, Services, and Business Interests
Mended Soul Counseling Services may develop, operate, or maintain relationships with related programs, educational offerings, service lines, affiliated brands, vendors, or other organizations.
When Mended Soul Counseling Services or its owner has an ownership interest, financial interest, referral relationship, or other business connection that could reasonably influence an individual’s decision to use a particular service, that relationship will be disclosed as appropriate.
A recommendation or referral to a related program, service, product, or organization does not obligate a client to use that option. When clinically appropriate, clients may request information about alternative providers or resources that are not financially affiliated with Mended Soul Counseling Services.
Referral Relationships
Mended Soul Counseling Services may maintain professional relationships with healthcare providers, attorneys, schools, community organizations, nonprofit organizations, vendors, and other businesses.
The existence of a professional relationship does not automatically mean that Mended Soul Counseling Services receives compensation for a referral. Mended Soul Counseling Services does not accept payment in exchange for clinical referrals unless the arrangement is lawful, ethically permissible, and clearly disclosed.
If Mended Soul Counseling Services has a financial or ownership interest in a recommended service or referral destination, that relationship will be disclosed when the recommendation is made. Clients remain free to select another qualified provider, and that decision will not adversely affect their services with Mended Soul Counseling Services.
Affiliate Relationships
Mended Soul Counseling Services participates in certain affiliate programs. These relationships are addressed separately in our Affiliate and Financial Disclosure.
Affiliate compensation is paid to Mended Soul Counseling Services rather than to the individual counselor sharing or discussing a resource. Individual counselors do not receive commissions based on a particular client’s or website visitor’s purchase.
Because Lindsey Grela owns Mended Soul Counseling Services, she may indirectly benefit from revenue received by the company. Affiliate relationships do not determine clinical recommendations, treatment decisions, referrals, or the services a client receives.
Professional Judgment and Client Choice
Ownership, employment, supervision, family relationships, outside professional activities, referral relationships, and financial interests must not supersede a clinician’s ethical obligations or duty to prioritize client welfare.
Clients are welcome to:
- Ask questions about an actual or potential conflict of interest.
- Decline a recommendation.
- Request alternative resources or referral options.
- Discuss concerns about how a disclosed relationship could affect their care.
Raising a question or declining a recommendation will not result in retaliation or adversely affect a client’s access to services.
